The Eclipse Nobody's Actually Explaining: Saros 126, Sirius, and Why This Leo Eclipse Isn't a New Story

Every account with a ring light and a tarot deck has said some version of the same sentence this week 'eclipse portal, shed your skin, step into your power, manifest! Scroll for five minutes and you'll see it repeated so many times it stops meaning anything.

Here's what none of that content is telling you: this eclipse isn't a new story. It's a repeat of one that already happened. And once you know that, the question changes completely, from 'what am I manifesting' to 'what did I leave unfinished.'

Eclipses Don't Appear Out of Nowhere

They belong to families called Saros cycles, sequences that repeat roughly every 18 years, 11 days and 8 hours, each one echoing the one before it, shifted slightly across the globe and slightly further along the zodiac.

This eclipse belongs to Saros series 126. Its direct ancestor was the total solar eclipse of August 2018, also in Leo.

So this isn't a fresh chapter. It's a return to a thread that opened eight years ago, asking whether you actually finished it, or just walked away.

I know exactly what mine says.

What Happened to Mine

In 2018, my events work, the Mind Body Spirit circuit, the tarot readings, the psychic awareness courses, was moving fast. Genuinely well. The kind of momentum that feels like proof you're finally doing the right thing.

By the end of 2019, it had come apart in my hands.

Not dramatically. Not in one moment I can point to. It just outran me. I couldn't keep pace with what it was demanding, and somewhere in that speed I lost the ability to tell whether I was building something or just being carried by it. So I stepped back. Properly. Not a pause, I shed the entire thing, and I stayed away for almost six years. Not only did I shed but I was so angry, I'd felt that people had taken advantage of my kind nature, that I'd been mentally exhausted by people constantly needing validation on relationships and in my opinion, basic energy stuff.

That's a long time to sit with a version of yourself you walked away from. Long enough that when I finally came back to it, I wasn't the same person picking the same thing back up. What I understood, coming back, is that what I actually have to offer was never a fortune-telling reading. It's rigour. It's history. It's the discipline underneath the mysticism, not the mysticism performed for its own sake.

That's the thread this eclipse is asking me to finish. Not 'do it again, faster.' Finish it properly, on terms I actually chose, at a pace I can hold.

Why This Matters More Than 'Shed Your Skin'

Now I love snakes, I have a custom made python drum, I do Kundalini Yoga, I work specifically with snake energy but this eclipse belongs to the same family as the one that opened the chapter I had to walk away from. That's not a coincidence I'm dressing up for content, that's literally how Saros cycles work. And if you've had a thread like this too, this is the week it's surfacing, whether you've named it yet or not.

So before you write your usual eclipse intentions, ask instead:

  • What was I building in 2018 that I never actually finished, I just stopped?

  • Was the ending about the thing itself being wrong, or about the pace I was trying to sustain it at?

  • What would it look like to pick that thread back up now, built to last this time, instead of built to impress?

The Sirius Piece: Because Renewal Was Never Meant to Be Gentle

Four days before the eclipse, we passed through the Lion's Gate Portal, when Sirius rises in close alignment with the Sun. To the Egyptians, this star was Sopdet, her rising signalled the Nile flood, the event the entire calendar was built around. That renewal was never soft. The flood came in, took what needed taking, and receded. Order (Goddess ma'at) reasserted itself through disruption, not through a gentle tidy-up.

If you work with Seth, as I do, this is his kind of week. He's so often flattened into 'chaos' when really he's what order has to keep contending with to stay order at all. My 2019 wasn't a gentle unravelling either. It needed to fall apart the way it did for what came after to actually hold.

And Why I'm Not Rushing This Time

In Vedic astrology, eclipses, grahanas, aren't treated as unconditionally auspicious the way Western 'portal' content assumes. They're volatile windows. Traditionally, big new beginnings are held back until after the eclipse passes, not launched inside it.

This one lands in my Jupiter Mahadasha, specifically the Jupiter–Saturn sub-period, the part of the cycle that rewards consistency over a dramatic leap. Jupiter wants to expand. Saturn wants to know it's load-bearing first. Given what happened last time I let something move faster than I could hold it, I'm listening to Saturn on this one.

So If You've Got a 2018 Thread Too

Don't rush to close it this week. Just name it. What were you building then, and what actually happened to it, did it end because it was wrong, or because of the speed you were carrying it at? That's the more honest question this eclipse is asking, underneath all the noise about portals and power.

Mine took six years to answer properly. I'm not in a hurry to get it wrong twice.
